Write To Win!!!

The contest has officially begun! We’ve received a lot of emails asking questions about prizes and rules but instead of responding to each individually, the decision was made to wait until today to announce everything. This will cut any confusion out and give everyone a reference for a complete understanding of the contest.

There will, of course, be questions you’ll have even after this announcement so feel free to comment or keep emailing and we’ll answer within 24 hours of your inquiries.

Without further ado, let’s get started!

Stratford University has created our Write To Win contest for two main reasons: The first reason is that in order to apply to international colleges where English is the mother tongue, tests are needed for English proficiency such as your IELTS/TOEFL or GRE/GMAT. Writing a blog post will help prepare you in ways you might not even be aware of.

The second reason is to give YOU an opportunity to win some really cool prizes doing something totally fun, because let’s face it, who doesn’t love a great contest?

Because this is the part that everyone is most interested in, we’ll get this out of the way first! We’ll be announcing the winner on October 3, 2011 and you’ll have the chance to win first, second and third place. The prizes are:

  • A traveller check of $50 USD to go shopping for school supplies
  • Free application for admissions to Stratford University that is valued at $50 USD
  • Your blog will be featured on our website

  • Your blog will be featured on our website

Official Rules:

  • All entries MUST be written in English
  • Entries must be a minimum of 500 words
  • Your entry must be written about subjects related to international students and/or American colleges
  • ALL references must be placed in the document, whether it’s by hyperlinks or the regular format for referencing
  • You may not copy and paste paragraphs to use as your own writing, also known as plagiarizing, however,
  • You may copy and paste quotes, statistics and facts as long as it’s referenced
  • No profanity/adult content
  • All contestants must be at least 17 years of age to enter

And, because there were a lot of great questions in the emails sent to us, here’s a quick list of helpful answers:

  • There isn’t a maximum word limit, however, remember that you want to capture your audience’s attention and not overwhelm them with words
  • Yes, the winner’s picture will be shown if he or she chooses
  • We do realize that English is not everyone’s native tongue so the post will be judged on content not spelling
  • This contest is not limited to any country, all countries are applicable
  • While there is an age limit of the lowest age you can be to enter, there isn’t an age limit upwards

Every entry must have this information at the top of the document sent in:

Telephone number:

Email Address:

Mailing Address

This information will be completely confidential. It’s only so that we can contact the winner and mail prizes.

All entries must be submitted to: slihn@stratford.edu

Once again, if you have any more questions, please feel free to post them in the comments section or email to the address above.

Remember, the more creative you are, the better your chances will be, not to mention, global recognition for your talent – so use those writing skills and WRITE TO WIN!!!

Hello, my friend and me are wanting to participate in your competition as we are in process for USA Student Visa. Is it okay if we write about Muslim females studying abroad and the fears we have of going there alone? Please let us know so we can write and hopefully win 🙂
